Play England manifesto win: Smoke-free playgrounds
Today the government announced the updated Tobacco and Vapes Bill is to create a smokefree generation across the UK by making it illegal for anyone currently aged 15 or under to ever buy cigarettes.
Under the new Bill, the government is considering extending smokefree legislation to make it illegal to smoke in children's playgrounds, outside schools and hospitals grounds, to protect children and the most vulnerable from the harms of second-hand smoke.
This is something Play England called for in our Manifesto: “making all spaces and places for play and recreation 'smoke-free' in law”.
